A quick google search will tell you that Sayulita, while seemingly perfect for digital nomads with its relaxing, young, surfing vibe, does not have the wifi to support a digital nomad lifestyle.

I work as a software engineer and Monday morning panicked when I couldn’t take a call or run the program I work on. Michaela works at a travel agency, and she found the internet to be a bit slow, but useable for web browsing.

We went on an internet search so you don’t have to! With these tips, you’ll be able to easily work from Sayulita!

First, where to stay. The hostels do not pay the higher price for fiber optic wifi as guests are mostly out and about (Viajero, Selina (non-cowork), and La Redonda all had slow wifi). But that’s no problem if you go to a cowork during the day!

If you prefer to work from your room, search online for or call hotels asking if they have fiber optic wifi. We found AzulPitaya, a beachfront hotel at the edge of town. It was pricey at $155/night, but we had amazing wifi on the entire hotel property (meetings by the largest pool in Sayulita anyone?).

The coworks in Sayulita are the Sayulita CoWork and Selina Cowork, located about a block from each other in the center of town.

Sayulita Cowork Space

  • 250 pesos per day, but its 24 hrs so you can go 2pm-2pm

  • Incredible wifi

  • Everyone hard at work

  • You’re able to talk and take meetings

  • Can be put in a private room if you have something important like an interview

  • Nice desk chairs, pretty many outlets

  • A little hard to find

  • A little dark

  • Great location in the middle of the city, can bring food in, just super relaxed and easy place to get work done

  • Fans

Selina Cowork Space

  • 190 pesos per day

  • Small, there are like 11 spots available

  • Has a phone booth you can reserve to take meetings in

  • You can also use that wifi outside of the cowork space in the hostel

  • Much quieter but a bit more awkward for taking calls

  • Pass works for 24 hrs

  • Free coffee/tea

  • Nice desk chairs, plenty of outlets

We also learned after the trip that the Sayulita Central Hotel has a coworking space with fiber-optic wifi. We don't have any details but if you check it out, let us know how it was in the comments!

So which is better? We used both coworks throughout the trip. The Selina was convenient when we were staying there, and it was great to be able to work from our room as well as the coworking space. On days that we had meetings and needed silence in the background, this was our choice.

However, the Sayulita Cowork is more spacious and cooler. I felt more comfortable taking casual meetings here. This was our choice for most days.
